Petter is a senior international development specialist with over twenty year’s experience. He joined EAP in December 2002 and has led the development of our current programme. He holds a BA Development Studies and Politics (London) and an MSc Social Policy and Planning in Developing Countries (London). After working as a construction manager in the UK, Petter first became involved in international development in 1989, when he worked as a Project Manager for the Government of Tuvalu. Since then he has worked for a number of NGO’s and community based organisations in Africa and Asia on issues related to the built environment. In his last position, he was the CEO of a Community Development Trust in South Africa.

Jill joined EAP in September 2005 as a Programme Officer. Jill is a social scientist with a Ph.D. in development studies and more than 35 years experience in development work. Her expertise lies in economic, social and labour issues related to the development of the construction sector. She has had a very diverse career, working for International Organisations, Government, NGOs and the Private Sector. Until recently she was serving as Construction Specialist at the International Labour Office (ILO) in Geneva. She also has spent considerable periods in Academia and has undertaken extensive research in Africa (Tanzania, Kenya) and Asia (Bangladesh, Vietnam, India). She has a long list of publications.

Lily is a Chartered Civil Engineer with an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering with French (University of Nottingham) and an MSc in Development Management (LSE).  She has worked as a construction project manager on post-disaster housing and water and sanitation projects in Sri Lanka with the Red Cross, and in El Salvador with a national NGO.  Before working in development, Lily worked for over three years as a structural engineer in the UK private sector, in design and project management.  Lily joined EAP in 2010.  Her current research focus areas are: climate change, infrastructure and development; the contribution that the engineering industry can make to sustainable development.

Sue is a water supply and sanitation specialist with particular experience in policy-level research and analysis. Sue’s first degree was in development studies followed by a masters in community water supply and sanitation and a Ph.D. on accountability for urban water supply and sanitation services. In the urban water supply and sanitation sector her focus has been on the operation and maintenance of water supply and sanitation facilities, service provision and accountability to slum communities, the design of private sector participation in utility management to benefit the poor, and in the governance of service delivery. In the rural sector, her particular areas of interest are sanitation, community participation, and the design of hygiene education programs. 

Tendai Nyoka - Finance and Administration Officer

Tendai joined Engineers Against Poverty as Finance and Administration Officer in 2009. She has a degree in Business Administration and French from Aston University an MBA in Finance and is a CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) Passed Finalist. Tendai has worked in Financial and Administrative positions in various industries including Design/Retail, Care Provision and Transport.
